HCHSA Formal Dress Code
Knowing that our “bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit” and that Scripture exhorts us to “honor God with your body” (1Cor. 6:19-20), please consider how we as Christians ought to present and conduct ourselves in our dress and behavior at such events. It is in this spirit of loving and honoring God, ourselves, and others that this policy is set forth.
Ladies
- Dresses may be strapless (if they fit properly) or include spaghetti straps.
- Dresses may be backless, as long as they are not cut below the navel line.
- 2-piece dresses must overlap the waistband: meaning top must overlap skirt waistband. No midriff may be visible.
- Dresses may not have a slit that is higher than 2 inches above the knee.
- Hemlines may not be higher than 2 inches above the knees, and should not ride up when bending or dancing.
- Dresses may not be cut below the bust line. This means no visible cleavage.
- Undergarments should not be visible.
- See-through and low cut apparel is not permitted.
Ladies, remember that as you are dancing, the gentleman needs a place to put his hand respectfully. So consider what will make both of you comfortable when choosing your dress.
There are hundreds of beautiful, tasteful and appropriate dresses available for prom.
Gentlemen
- You are expected to wear formal attire.
- Dress shirts and ties are a requirement.
- This may also include a suit, sports coat, or a vest.
Policy for Admittance
We hope to maintain the integrity and formality of this night for HCHSA by implementing this simple dress code.
- If you are bringing a +1, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to make them aware of our dress code policy.
- Prom is a formal and special night.
- As such, anyone not appropriately dressed will be turned away at the door.
- If you are unsure about your attire meeting the dress code, please make adjustments such as adding an insert into a low-cut dress or lowering a slit with a simple seam.
- You may also consult with one of the Prom Committee’s Parent Advisors with questions about a specific dress’s appropriateness.
Parents, please make sure your student is appropriately dressed for this event.
